Donell is a British born filmmaker. His work is highly character-centred, focusing on everyday stories heightened through an ambitious visual language.

In 2024 he became a recipient of film funding from Warner Bros. Discovery and his film was released on discovery+ as part of BBU S3. The story was covered in Hollywood Reporter and British Cinematographer.

In 2020, he was selected for support from BFI NETWORK’s short film development programme. He also received mentorship through B3 Media on their Origin programme and became a recipient of their Associate Artist Award.

His work has screened at festivals like BAFTA-qualifying S.O.U.L. Fest at BFI Southbank, Cinemagic Young Filmmaker Awards, Derby Film Festival, NAHEMI Eat Our Shorts Awards and Picture East Film Festival.

In addition to his directorial work he has experience as a production assistant, producer’s assistant and assistant producer for BBC, Netflix and Sky productions.
